Jo Angell

Jo Angell stepped into the world of textiles after running her own graphics company for 10 years. She has emerged as an exciting materials and pattern based designer producing award winning work.

Jo's design work is infused by close observation of nature. She is also interested in patterns created by light and shadow.

'Solar Sanctuary' is a collection of modular canopies which entice us into the shade with ethereal ever-changing patterns produced by moving light over cut and layered modular forms. Jo has also adapted these ideas for a bird inspired cork fabric which allows dappled light to pass through laser cut holes.

Jo is just as comfortable designing wallpapers and printed textiles. After producing the competition winning Bittern range of sustainable wallpapers for Graham and Brown, Jo was commissioned by Watts of Westminster, a traditional fabric company, to design a collection of four wallpapers.  The patterns were inspired by Watt's rich archive of Victorian and Edwardian church embroideries.

Jo has recently completed a collection of digitally printed textiles which combine textures from nature photographed by Jo with hand drawn birds and trees.
